Curated by Alison Dollery and Sophie Nowakowska, the show opened up a conversation about „What do we need art for?” and was a dedication to bridging contemporary art with the Crawley local community during the WORDfest: Crawley’s Festival of Words.
Taking place in a disused butcher shop located in Deptford, London, a month-long Meat Market project is divided into two exhibitions, talks and some spontaneous events. The project aimed to provide artists with a platform to experiment and produce pieces that they have always wanted to create but have not had the chance to do so previously.
The first part of the Can I Steal Your Body? trilogy which delves into the intricate connection between artists and objects and explores profound motivations that drive creators to bring their visions to life. Moving, Reshaping, Escaping focuses on the act of transforming a fleeting feeling, a need or a desire into a tangible object – an artwork.

The co-curated project with Guillermo Moreno Mirallas embarks on the intricate interplay between physical and digital identities, seen through the lenses of five creators from different corners of the globe. Gabrielle Travis's, Ilê Sartuzi's, Avalon K Hale-Thomson's, Josh Vyrtz's and Jeremy Hutchison's proposals address a distinct facet of this existential journey.
